Ndlovu Information Technology Training (NITT)
In June 2001, the Elandsdoorn Development Trust received a donation from PCE Computers, Apeldoorn , the Netherlands , in order to start a computer training centre.
Goodwill Zwane was an unemployed young man who had completed high school with flying colours, but was unable to continue his studies due to the family's financial situation. He was trained as a computer facilitator and subsequently the school started IT training with 8 computers and enrolled 65 students.
People of all ages get the opportunity to learn how to type and the basics of MS Word and Excel. A small IT training centre like this should not be dependent on donations and should be financially self-sustaining. For this reason, the pupils pay a small fee per month. With this money, the facilitator's salary is paid, a reserve is created for replacing computers and Zwane is provided with the funds for his studies at Unisa. The school is busy applying for registration and accreditation as a training centre.
